Only children or siblings: Who has higher physical activity and healthier weight?

Background: The influence of parents on physical activity (PA) and body weight their children is confirmed by scientific studies. However, it not known whether only or those with siblings have a higher level PA healthier weight. Objective: aims this study are (i) to assess there any differences in the achievement daily step count (SC) recommendation prevalence overweight/obesity between from families multiple children, (ii) investigate SC children/parents parental associated childhood obesity. Methods: analysis included 566 (10.6%/89.4% single child/two more children) complete data status monitored Yamax pedometer during regular school/work 2013-2019. amounted ≥ 13,000/11,000 for 5-12-year-old sons/daughters 10,000 12-16-year-old adolescents adults. chi-square test was used compare overweight/obesity. Binary logistic regression analyses were obesity offspring. Results: A significantly proportion achieved recommended (51.8% vs. 31.7%, p = .003) showed lower overweight (16.2% 20.0%, .041) (7.1% < .001) compared children. (p .05) decreased odds ratio (odds ratios 0.22-0.34, 95% confidence intervals 0.07-0.85). Conclusions: Children had than single-child families. reaching reduces likelihood obesity, regardless presence sibling family.
